Greens leader Richard Di Natale and Greens MLC Jeremy Buckingham visited Gloucester on Saturday 4 March 2017, as guests of Groundswell Gloucester. Groundswell president Julie Lyford hosted the politicians and they were warmly greeted by Gloucester residents at Billabong Park.

“The Greens stand for sustainable industries, the environment and democracy. They have consistently supported our battles against the fossil fuel threats to Gloucester. We are buoyed by the vanquishing of AGL and now all our efforts have been turned towards stopping the destructive Rocky Hill coal mine, just 0.9km from Gloucester backyards,” said Julie.

Senator Di Natale inspected the site of the proposed Rocky Hill open-cut coal mine from a viewpoint at Grantham Road. “This community had the courage to stand up against AGL’s outrageous CSG proposal and they won. And I have no doubt they’ll win this one too,” said Senator Di Natale.
